BART is working alongside some of Fremont’s brightest young minds to prepare for the FIRST Robotics Competition. As a team sponsor, BART is donating engineering and manufacturing support throughout the project, and will join “The Insomniacs” to root for their bot in competition, April 2016.
The Insomniacs are a team of approximately 50 High School Students from the Fremont Unified School District who share a common interest in robotics, automation, and engineering creativity. Together, they’ve designed and built a bot to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition. The competition consists of bots battling on a team in order to breach their opponents’ defenses and capture their tower. The competition includes high school students from across the United States. Teams score points by crossing elements of their opponents’ defenses, scoring boulders in their opponents’ tower goals, and surrounding and scaling their opponents’ tower itself. Please visit the following link for additional information on the competition (http://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/frc).
With their gameplay strategy in place, The Insomniacs created a conceptual drawing of a bot that could accomplish their goal of scaling obstacles and shooting boulders into the opponents tower, while meeting the competition’s provided constraints (i.e. budget, weight, height). The Insomniacs engaged BART to help their dream bot become a reality. With the help of our state of the art Machine Shop and Engineering Department, the Insomniacs are nearing completion of their competition bot. Please check back for updates as The Insomniacs continue their journey through FIRST Robotics Competition 2016.
